DAVIE, FL – On Wednesday, December 15 members of the Broward College District Board of Trustees, Broward College administration, faculty and students and representatives from Kaufman Lynn Construction and Cartaya and Associates, the architects of the project, gathered for a ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of construction for a new fine arts building on Broward College’s Davie campus. The fine arts building will include a theater studio, gallery, and classroom and studio space for teaching photography, drawing, painting, graphics, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture. “At Broward College, our top priority is serving our students, and the construction of the fine arts building will tremendously benefit our students studying the visual and performing arts,” said David Armstrong, president of Broward College.
The new building is the second and largest phase of a project to refurbish and consolidate fine arts facilities on campus. In addition to the classroom building, Kaufman Lynn General Contractors will add a new elevator and restrooms tower to service and connect buildings 5 and 6. “Kaufman Lynn supports Broward College’s educational mission. That means we will not only deliver a quality new facility but maintain operations of the surrounding buildings without interruption,” said Mike Kaufman, president Kaufman Lynn Construction.
The new facility is scheduled for completion in December 2011.
